VIVES University of Applied Sciences is a higher education institution. With approximately 16000 students and 1350 staff members, VIVES is one of the biggest Universities of Applied Sciences in Flanders. Our core business is to ensure higher education for students at bachelor level in the study areas of Applied engineering and Technology, Biotechnology, Education, Commercial Sciences and Business Management, Health Care and Applied Social Sciences. We are active in innovative practical research and offering services to society. VIVES is also active in the field of VET. It offers a broad range of post educational trainings and seminars for people in the work field. In the faculty of Education, we offer educational bachelors in ‘early childhood education’, in ‘primary education’ and in ‘secondary education’. We also offer a bachelor after bachelor in ‘special educational needs’. VIVES University of Applied Sciences is open to the world. VIVES ensures that its students contribute to the globalised world both as human beings and as professionals. VIVES works closely together with enterprises, organisations and schools. Our goal is to develop practice oriented research, in a collaborative way, in an either regional, national or international context. VIVES University of Applied Sciences has several Centres of Excellence and research groups, in which they perform practice oriented research. They provide answers on current needs of local and regional businesses and non-profit organisations. One of these Centres of Excellence is the VIVES hub of ‘Innovation in Education’ in which there has been active research on ‘social inclusion’ since more than 5 years.

Celine De Vos

Early Childhood Education

Celine De Vos has been working at VIVES University of Applied Sciences since 2009. She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Sciences and a certificate of Academical Teacher Training. She is a lecturer in the educational bachelors in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education at the campus in Kortrijk. She teaches in the areas of communication and reflective skills, didactical and pedagogical competences in early childhood education and is coordinator of traineeships in early childhood education. She is also member of the international team in the faculty of Education and participates in practice oriented research in the field of ‘social inclusion of refugees and migrants’.

Els Vanobberghen

Early Childhood Education

Els Vanobberghen has been working at VIVES University of Applied Sciences for 16 years. She has a Master’s Degree in Communication and is a Master-Practitioner NLP Coach. She has been a lecturer in the educational bachelors and the bachelor after bachelor in Special Educational Needs at the campus in Kortrijk, where she has teached in the areas of social skills and communication, co-teaching and teamwork. She is currently researcher in the field of ‘social inclusion of refugees and migrants’. She also works as coordinator of traineeships in ‘diversity’ in the Master of Education in Audiovisual and Visual Arts at LUCA School of Arts.

 

 

 

Els Callens

Early Childhood Education

Els Callens  has been working at VIVES University of Applied Sciences since 1993. She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Sciences and a certificate of Academical Teacher Training and a Master’s Degree in religion. She is a lecturer in the educational bachelors in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education at the campus in Kortrijk. She teaches in the areas of transitions, support and inclusion, urban education, inclusive and quality education for all, sustainable development goals, intercultural and international competencies, professional and personal reflection, different educational systems.  She was international coordinator for the area of education for about 15 years till 2020 and was involved in a lot of European projects and also intercontinental projects related to topics of resilience, inclusion, well-being and involvement and a eco-holistic view on a child and environment.  She is involved in curriculum development in the area of early childhood.
